    History Behind the Name "Ami Mizuno"

    In the name Mizuno, "mi" is another word for the japanese word "sui", which appears in the japanese word "suiyoubi". Suiyoubi means Wednesday and is named after the god Woden. In Old English, suiyoubi is translated to "Wodnes Daeg". When translated into Latin, the word becomes "Mercrii dies" or "Day of Mercury".

    Mercurius was one of the 12 major deities of Olympus. Mercurius is the son of Jupiter and Maia (Goddess of the Plains). Mercurius was born in a cave on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia. Mercurius was known for inventing the lyre and stealing cattle from Apollo (God of hunting and healing). His characteristics personifies the wind, hence Sailor Mercury's main weapon "Mercury Shabon Spray" (water trapped in air). Like the messenger of the gods, Sailor Mercury is the source of communication among the Sailor Scouts. She transmits information using her pocket computer and VR Visor.

    This attack is basically just like Mercury Bubble Blast, except the bubbles are frozen into ice.

    When Sailor Mercury says this, she creates an ice storm which freezes everything around her.

    An extremely useful weapon, Mercury presses her earring and these special blue goggles come down from her tiara, with it she can see the evil in people's hearts, and other important things that couldn't normally be seen.

    Sailor Tiger's Analysis on Sailor Mercury

    Ami is the brightest, most dedicated, and most dependable of all Sailor Scouts. Ami met up with Serena in a weird way. She dropped a disk from her notebook. Before Serena could return it, Ami ran off. Serena followed Ami to her class where she discovered that the teacher was a creature from the Negaverse. Serena transformed into Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon fought as hard as she could (which didn't have much effect) but there were too many creatures to fight. Meanwhile, the main creature held Ami's face to the computer screen in an effort to retrieve her energy. When Ami resisted, the Mercury symbol appeared upon her forehead, revealing her as a Sailor Scout. Luna saw the sign and retrieved the Mercury Lunar Pen. The creature finally gave up on getting Ami's strength and threw her to the ground. Luna threw Ami the Lunar Pen and told her to shout "Mercury Power". Ami did so and transformed into Sailor Mercury. She distracted the creatures from chasing after Sailor Moon (who was stuck in a corner). Mercury used her "Mercury Bubbles Blast" to create a fog in which the creatures could not see. Sailor Moon finished them off with her "Moon Tiara Magic".

    Ami's Love life

    Due to schoolwork, Ami hardly ever had time for boyfriends. In fact, she was the only Sailor Scout who did not chase after guys. However, she did have one crush on a guy named Greg. Greg held a Rainbow Crystal inside his heart. When this was discovered, the Negaverse sought to take the crystal from Greg. Greg harnessed its power to cheat on tests. Greg's intelligence was what attracted Ami to him. With the Rainbow Crystal's power, Greg also knew the secret that Ami was also Sailor Mercury. The Negaverse successfully took the first of the eight Rainbow Crystals and turned Greg into a monster from the Negaverse. Sailor Moon unleashed her new healing power "Moon Healing Activation". Greg was finally healed and returned to his human self. However, without his power, Greg was forced to leave Crossroads Junior High School. Ami first and only love was gone before her eyes. The only memory they have was the picture that Ami gave to Greg before he boarded the train.

    Mercury's Power of Water

    Although Ami is the smartest, she carries the weakest weapon "Mercury Bubbles Blast". She learns to harness its power and transform the fog bubbles into bubbles of ice. It seems her weapon is strongest when combined with Sailor Jupiter's Thunder Crash.
